One our group’s goals is to reach out and help others experience the joy and positive interaction that board games can provide.  In you are interested in helping out your community or even volunteering and never knew how, join us!  You love board games.  You love reaching out and giving back.  It is the perfect combination!

We currently have these opportunities available throughout 2018:

We currently host Family Game Days on the first two Saturdays of each month from 1pm to 3pm at both Arlington Central Library (2nd Saturday) and the Columbia Pike Branch Library (1st Saturday).  Our volunteers work with library staff to introduce and teach new games to families and help facilitate the board game experience.  Parents are required to sit and play with their children because the goal of the event to give them a non-electronic bonding experience.  NOVA Board Game group provides and delivers the family oriented games.

We host an After School Game Club with Arlington Central Library on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4pm to 5pm.  Students from the area come to the library and we teach them how to play various games.  Parents are not involved in these game sessions.  It is a chance for the kids to play together with their peers.  Our volunteers sit with a small group and teach a specific game.  Children from 1st grade to 8th grade may participate.  NOVA Board Game group provides and delivers the age-appropriate games.

We are also looking into setting up a Senior Game Day at a local retirement community or nursing home.  And, we are hoping to setup up a monthly Kids Game Day at a local children’s hospital.

If you (or anyone in your family) are interested in helping with any of these opportunities and want to give back, we need you!  The families and children are so much fun and really appreciate our help.  Plus, we get them excited about the board game hobby!  Volunteers can apply these hours towards annual community service hours.
